WORK BEGINS ON CAITHNESS HORIZONS
Paul Cariss, Caithness Horizons Chairman and Ian Hargrave, Caithness Area Manager, gave a recent presentation to Thurso Community Council.
On behalf of the Community Council, Mike Potts, representing Thurso in Bloom, announced: “This has been a long time in the making and we should all welcome the fact that work has With all the funding now firmly in place the preliminary work for the Caithness Horizons project has commenced, with the packing up of Thurso Town Hall and Museum well underway. This signifies the beginning of this exciting project to restore the building to its former glory in order to create an outstanding facility for the local community and visitors to the area. As the Town Hall and adjacent Carnegie Library is being prepared for closure for an extensive makeover, the project team are in the process of finalising the preparatory work necessary for the actual refurbishment to begin later this year. finally started to transform our Town Hall into a multi-purpose facility that will benefit the entire county.”
Paul Cariss said: “This is the beginning of a very busy and exciting period, and along with our partners we look forward to renovating this much loved civic building, which holds countless happy memories for many members of our local community. The project team has worked extremely hard to bring us to this stage and seeing the work set in motion is extremely rewarding for everyone involved. We await with great anticipation the day we can hand back to the community a building they can be proud of.”
